Carpet Maintenance

- Clean stains immediately: Don’t let a stain set- you have a higher chance of getting the stain out completely if you clean it up promptly. Blot the carpet, don’t rub, and if that doesn’t work with water and dish soap, then try club soda or commercial cleaners.
- Vacuum often AND slowly: Vacuum high traffic areas frequently. This will reduce build-up and ensure your carpet stays cleaner longer. Also, vacuuming at a slower speed allows more dirt to be picked up.
- Professionally clean the carpet yearly.
- Use the appropriate vacuum for your carpet pile. You can set the vacuum at different heights, or in some cases, a rotating brush or beater bar may be necessary.
- Use scissors to cut snags- don’t pull on them as this can make them worse.
